There’s nothing quite like seeing whales silhouetted against a glowing Baja sunset. This magical 2.5-hour tour is run by our trusted sister company, East Cape Explorers, in San José del Cabo. You’ll spot humpbacks and other marine giants while golden light reflects off the Sea of Cortez—all from the comfort of a quiet, small-group vessel. Compared to the busier waters of Cabo San Lucas, San José offers a more peaceful setting for this kind of experience, with fewer boats, calmer conditions, and a front-row seat to both the whales and the sunset.

Check in at 4:00 PM at East Cape Explorers, located in the Puerto Los Cabos Marina, San José del Cabo. You’ll be welcomed by your guide and fitted with everything needed for a comfortable sunset cruise. As the sun begins its descent, you’ll head out into the Sea of Cortez to spot breaching humpbacks, tail slaps, and—if you’re lucky—baby calves swimming alongside their mothers.
This time of day is calmer, quieter, and truly serene. With the use of our onboard hydrophone, you can even listen to live whale songs as the sun sets behind the mountains. Your guide will share stories and facts about the whales and local ecology while capturing professional photos and videos of your trip—yours to keep at no extra charge.
