2 Tank Dive - Gordo Banks
Explore open blue water in search of hammerheads and pelagics at Baja’s most legendary shark diving site—Gordo Banks. This deep offshore sea mount is one of the few places in the world where you can see schooling hammerheads in recreational diving limits. The tour is operated from our sister shop East Cape Explorers in San José del Cabo, and includes round-trip transportation from Dive Cabo.

Your day begins at 7:15 AM at Dive Cabo, where you’ll meet your guide and be driven to our sister dive center, East Cape Explorers, in San José del Cabo. There, you’ll board the boat and receive a detailed briefing covering blue water procedures, safety, and shark behavior. Once we arrive at the dive site—roughly 40–60 minutes offshore—you’ll drop straight into the blue.
This is not your average dive. With no line or reference, divers execute a controlled free descent to the guide-determined depth, hovering midwater while scanning the deep for hammerheads, silky sharks, and other pelagics. Gordo Banks is raw, exhilarating, and unpredictable—while sightings are common, they are never guaranteed.
You’ll complete two dives with a surface interval between, and return to the marina in San José around 1:30–2:00 PM. Afterward, we’ll take you back to Dive Cabo.

Tour Requirements / Prerequisites
- All divers must complete a 2-tank local dive with us or East Cape Explorers prior to the shark trip
- Must be PADI Open Water certified or higher
- Strong buoyancy, good air consumption and recent deep dive experience required
- Maximum depth: 130 ft / 40 m
- Divers must be in good physical health and comfortable in blue water
